Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) Workshops
High-fidelity simulators will be used to demonstrate 20 standard transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) windows and 20 cardiac pathologies. Workshop content will consist of classroom lectures, hands-on demonstration, TEE window acquisition and individualized instruction. As well, qualitative and quantitative Doppler will be used to measure valve area, ejection fraction, valve stenosis and regurgitation, pulmonary artery stenosis and cardiac output.
John Shields DNP, CRNA (cardiovascular ultrasound certification) will offer advanced and basic training in the use of TEE for cardiac surgery, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology and “rescue echo”. Each participant will perform several comprehensive TEE exams and acquire advanced measurements and assessments. As well there will be stations for live scanning with transthoracic echo using Lumify, Butterfly and Sonosite ultrasound devices.
Participants in the November 15, 2020 TEE workshop also will be enrolled in a free 12 chapter TEE course offered by Heartworks eLearn prior to attending the workshop.
